News etc
Healing service today. We talked a bit about eternal life. One mentioned she had been thinking about it, and decided she didn't believe in it.
Another said, "everyone goes through a tunnel. I hate tunnels." Another said, "well, I hope it gets better." One remarked that she thinks there is another place with God. She asked me what I think. I gave my best Christian response.
"Sometimes I wonder about the people have these out of body experiences like its an operating table."
then I finished my part of the parochial report, and went to Rotary where we honored Ted Lee who is a motrician, for his business ethics.
Stuff in the religious news about Dammann, the Lesbian Methodist pastor. Looks as if the Methodists are going to bar any gay clergy from ordination. In my view, it is sad when we have a litmus test based upon sexuality.

Parochial report and Prayer
Must... finish... overdue... parochial report...
and a prayer at the wp common council tonight.
Like this:
Almighty God
Who did create the planets, the world, our wonderful home,
Allow us to attend to the real needs of the citizens of White Plains,
Let us not be contemptuous or envious
But have charity, prudence and good will.
Also, protect our soldiers from harm
And keep them mindful of right and wrong.
Especially let us serve you and your creation
In the name of the one who has created all that is beautiful and eternal, AMEN.

I've now added a comments section and a stat counter.
One of the general challenges, I found, to being a priest is ensuring good follow through and delegating properly. Being convicted that church is something people should do, and should want to do, makes the work of asking easy.

Today sent out letters on the community Supported Agriculture network.
A few phone calls regarding weddings.
The newsletter is all done.
The service on Sunday had about 50 people; I preached about how the culture encourages anxiety. I explored about how the disciples were anxious. After explaining about two ways [hypercontrol, and being completely passive] people managed anxiety, I explored how ritual, faith [and love], and "feeling eternal" help manage anxiety. Eternal life keeps our minds focused upon God's work and his Word.
Will have lunch with a colleague today.
Looks as if we've got a lot of bills.
Always bills.
