Today worked on the bulletin and newsletter. Managed the theater director, and met with Lazard in the city. Worried about how much we'll raise this year. Ken Wald, who I do not know, who apparently "knew" Phillip Stowell, called and asked for money. I refused. He started getting feisty. Then he hung up.

Tomorrow I work on the bulletin. There is supposed to be a storm this evening. Called Jim to see if he would snowplow in the morning.

the lock on the church is broken.

Today property stuff. We think that the wall just needs a few more weeks. Gary called - the rota was not filled out correctly. Must find a band for December 7th, and send out invitations. Patrick agreed to be the stage manager for Lend me a Tenor.

Judy and Charlie, God Bless Them, came over to worry about Lend me a Tenor in a constructive way - by helping out.

Call from a woman wanting to rent the space for a valentines day party. AFter about 10 minutes I realized I didn't need to talk to her.

Lots of calls from people about the property.

Talked about a longterm property plan with Jim Russell. Very productive.

tonight the Oboist rehearses with Vera.

Spoke with a new member, Marjorie, about more arts at St. Bartholomew's. We might take down all the photos and start putting up artwork.

I'll be in the office tomorrow, consoling the Garden Club, worrying about the play, doing the bulletin.

Fewer martinis on a Wednesday night for me from now on.

And now, for a martini and a cigar. I promise myself I'll get up at 7:45 for morning prayer. Promise. Even alone

Today took Anthony, an activist on Iraq, to the clericus, where we talk about our parishes. He was an effective draw. He reminded us about why the inspectors had left Iraq, and the dangers of destabilizing the region. Came back to sort through papers, return phone calls, recruit people for the play we're doing, write e-mails, eliminate junk on my desk, and prepare for a 6:30 mass.

Then a meeting about parish life. We talked about the December 7th dinner.

This morning, the wall, for which we had spent $4500 to fix, is still wet. The German School is not quite irate, but concerned. We're all trying to work together. It's important for us at St. Barts to go down and sooth the Germans so they feel like we're concerned, which we are.
